Finally I am back. Back to my blog, back to my normal college life, and back in Luther College, here in Decorah, Iowa. I would also take this opportunity to share with you the fact that I am now living in Luther College Sustainability House or known as Luther’s Environmentally, Fiscally, and Socially responsible Edifice (LEFSE) with eight other friends. The whole idea to live in LEFSE is pretty much self-explanatory but a quote from our website will help clear out any questions you have in mind. So here I quote, "LEFSE offers a living-learning environment where students reside together that share a dedication to an environmentally, socially, and fiscally sustainable lifestyle." So what we're doing is to live together sustainably, share ideas and goals and are committed to achieve them, such as to develop annual operating plan for the house, taking part in house leadership roles and to provide education and outreach to both Luther's community and the surrounding communities.
From my academic life, I started my J-term class on January the 3rd (2 days ago) and since I am doing Directed Reading in Spanish, I am pretty much arranging my own schedule to catch up with the readings. The theme I am exploring is the "Magical Realism in Latin American Literature." So, I will have a lot of short stories and extracts from novels written by famous Hispanic writers such as Juan Bosch, Juan Rulfo, Miguel Ángel Asturias, Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar and Gabriel García Márquez. I know it's gonna be tough but I will try to enjoy the readings as much as I can. Anyway, I will be posting reflections I have on the readings as well as from my volunteer job at the Food Pantry in Spanish for this January month. That's all and stay awesome in this new year, 2013!
!Nos vemos!
